How Much Does a Robotic Floor Scrubber Cost in Australia?

On this page

A commercial robotic floor scrubber costs about $29,000 to $50,000 for the compact and mid-size machines we list. Larger industrial robots are quoted per site and sit well above that. A robotic floor scrubber is a scrubber-dryer that drives itself on a mapped route, so it washes and dries the floor with nobody pushing it.

Those figures are RRPs excluding GST from our product pages. What a robot is worth to you depends on your floor, which is why we scope a site before we price a robot.

The cleaning robots we list run from $24,800 to $49,900 ex GST, with larger Tennant robots quoted per site.

What do robotic floor cleaners cost right now?

These are the robots we list with a published RRP. The Tennant AMR range and FloorBotics are quoted per site.

Robot What it does RRP (ex GST)
PUDU MT1 Robotic industrial sweeper $24,800
PUDU CC1 4-in-1 scrub, sweep, vacuum and mop $29,000
    i-team Co-Botic 45 Robotic scrubber-dryer $29,853
PUDU CC1 Pro 4-in-1 with upgraded navigation $35,000
PUDU MT1 Max Outdoor robotic sweeper $35,800
    PUDU BG1 Large-area sweeper-scrubber $44,900
    PUDU BG1 Pro Large-area sweeper-scrubber, 3D LiDAR $49,900
Tennant X4 ROVR, T7AMR, T16AMR, T380AMR Autonomous scrubbers built on Tennant platforms Quoted per site

For comparison, a ride-on scrubber of similar capacity sits around $21,000 to $49,000 on our price list. So the robot costs more, and the difference has to come back as labour saved.

Why is the Tennant X4 ROVR quoted, not listed?

Tennant’s autonomous machines are priced after a site look because the setup varies so much. The X4 ROVR is a compact robot with a 500 mm cleaning path and 38 litre tanks. Tennant rates it at up to 1,860 square metres per solution tank and up to 2.5 hours of run time. It learns its route by “teach and repeat”, so commissioning depends on how many routes and floors you need.

Robotic machines are scoped before they’re priced. Tell us your floor area, surface and shift pattern and we’ll come back with a quote you can budget against. That’s the answer for the X4 ROVR and the other AMR models.

What’s included in the price, and what costs extra?

The RRP covers the machine. The quote adds delivery, mapping and setup on site, and training for the staff who’ll empty and refill it each day.

After that, the running costs are lower than most people expect. Our ROI calculator assumes about $0.41 an hour to run a robot, and a working life of 5 to 8 years with servicing. Consumables are the same pads, brushes and squeegees any scrubber uses. Servicing and remapping, for when the layout changes, are part of the ongoing cost. We do both in-house.

When does a robot pay for itself?

A robot pays back when it takes over a big, repetitive floor that’s cleaned often. Our calculator regularly shows payback under 24 months for floors over about 1,500 square metres cleaned three or more times a week. That’s at current labour rates. Below that, a traditional walk-behind or ride-on is usually the better spend.

Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport is a good example. The terminal has large open areas in daily use, but it was only getting a proper clean every few weeks. The robotic scrubber we set up now cleans half the airport each night, so the whole terminal is done every two days. Staff empty and refill it each morning, which takes about five minutes.

When is a robot a waste of money?

When the floor is small, broken up, or split across levels the robot can’t reach by itself. Shaun Herman, who runs CC Machines, spoke recently with a high-end accommodation building that wanted one. It had 12 floors, only about 20 square metres to clean on each, half tile and half carpet, and no lift integration for the robot.

Someone would have had to carry the robot to each floor, let it vacuum, change it over to scrub the hard floor, and then move it again. It would have taken twice as long as doing it by hand. “Just no ROI on that,” he told them.

Other limits are hard numbers rather than judgement calls: aisle width, ramp gradient, tank size and charge time. Our post on when cleaning robots don’t make sense works through each one.

Small areas across levels, no lift integration and tile-to-carpet changeovers stop a robot paying back.

Can you trial a robot before buying?

Yes. Robot hire and trials let you run a machine on your own floor before you commit. A trial answers the questions a brochure can’t: whether the robot copes with your layout, and whether your staff take to the five-minute morning routine. It also shows whether the floor looks better after a fortnight.

Lease-to-own and long-term hire spread the cost if a capital purchase is hard to get approved.

Buying a robot through a Brisbane dealer

A robot is only as good as the support behind it. We’re an authorised PUDU dealer and stock FloorBotics, Tennant and i-team robots. We’re also authorised to do warranty work for Tennant, PUDU and FloorBotics, and our techs have manufacturer training from Tennant, Nilfisk, i-team, PUDU and Pacvac. We cover the Tweed to Bundaberg from our Brendale workshop, with a tech based in Cairns.

    Common questions

How much does a commercial cleaning robot cost in Australia?

The robots we list run from $24,800 for a robotic sweeper to $49,900 for a large sweeper-scrubber, excluding GST. Larger autonomous scrubbers from Tennant are quoted per site.

What is the price of a Tennant X4 ROVR?

We quote the X4 ROVR per site, because mapping and setup depend on your floor area, routes and shifts. Send us your floor area and surface and we’ll come back with a figure you can budget against.

How long does a robotic floor scrubber last?

About 5 to 8 years with regular servicing, based on the figures in our ROI calculator. Batteries, pads and squeegees are replaced along the way, as on any scrubber.

Is a robot cheaper than a cleaner?

On large floors cleaned often, usually yes within two years. On small or split-level sites it rarely is. A person still empties, refills and spot-cleans, so the robot takes over the repetitive passes rather than the whole job.
